Finding a Work/Life/Stream Balance
Sometimes it can be difficult to find a proper balance when trying to be a part-time streamer. For those that are young, you might just have to worry about work, but for those of us that are a little older, there can be a myriad of things that take up time that we need to balance. This only came up today for me as a streamer that I watch abruptly cancelled all future streams due to what appeared to be personal issues.
I know of this all too well. There was a time when I was trying to stream every night, cramming in as much time in front of a camera thinking it was the best thing for the stream. While that may be true, but when your spouse comes to you saying that they think your stream is more important then them, or your children, you have to learn to set priorities.
When you hear those words, you have to take a step back and find a modicum of balance between all things streaming. For me, it meant setting a schedule that I was ridged about keeping. Off-days would be off-days. On those days, you make time to spend with family either at home or getting out of the house and doing something with them.
And then from there, you have to make sure to keep things from interfering with work. For me, I tend to have streams on in the background, as white noise tends to help me work. However, I try to keep the watching to a minimum. It is way too easy to find yourself watching far too much video games vs. getting actual work done.
These are just some tips that I have for you anyone looking for some life balance tips. They are by no means the definitive answer, but maybe they might be a solid starting point.
